Creating a task
In Scheduled Tasks, press "New task". You only need to fill in three things:
- Name: to recognize it later.
- What Echidna should do: explain it the way you would to a person ("review the AI news and summarize the important parts for me").
- When: every so often, once, or with an advanced rule (for example, every Monday at 8).
Notifications
When a task finishes, you get a notification in the browser (with the tab open) and the result stays in the task thread. If something fails, you hear about it too.
Pause, edit, delete
All tasks can be paused and reactivated, edited or deleted from the list. No strange side effects: pausing stops execution, deleting truly removes it.
Useful examples
- "Every Monday, a summary of the news in my industry with sources."
- "Every night, check whether there are new files in my project and tell me what changed."
- "On the 1st of every month, draft an expense report."
- "Once, tomorrow at 9: remind me to prepare the presentation."
Honest limits
Tasks run inside your account and use up your plan's usage. The service's internal maintenance tasks are invisible to you and cannot be touched: they are the ones that keep everything healthy.
If you are not there when it finishes
The result stays saved in the task thread, with the date of each run: when you come back, you see what it did and when. The browser notification only appears with the tab open; the result waits for you either way. If a run fails, it is also recorded with an explanation in plain language.
