GUIDE 02 / 12

The chat

The main screen: everything happens here. It is used the way a conversation is used.

What it is

The chat is the conversation with Echidna. Each conversation lives in its own session, with its full history: you can have several open and return to any of them from the sidebar list.

Writing and sending

  • Write in the bar at the bottom and send with Enter.
  • For a line break without sending, use Shift + Enter.
  • If you make a mistake, you can stop the generation with the "Stop" button: what it already wrote is kept.

Attaching files

Use the clip button to attach a document, a spreadsheet or an image. It goes with your message along with what you ask: "summarize this contract", "pull the totals from this sheet", "describe this photo".

While it answers

  • You will see the narration of what it is doing, in clear sentences: "Searched the web", "Read your PDF", "Created a table". They are not decorations: they say what actually happened.
  • When the answer comes from the internet, it carries its cited sources so you can check it.
  • Tables, lists and code blocks are shown in order, and code comes with its copy button.

Correcting without starting over

The conversation adjusts the work as it goes. Examples:

  • "Shorter, please."
  • "Make it a table and add a cost column."
  • "Cite the sources for the second part."
  • "That was not it: I want a comparison, not a summary."

If something fails

When a turn cannot answer, a clear sentence appears with the "Retry" button: it resends the same message without losing the thread.

Examples that work well

  • "Explain integrals to me with a real-life example and 5 exercises with solutions."
  • "Compare these two proposals in a table: price, timeline and risks."
  • "Plan my week: I have these to-dos, order them by priority."
  • "Write a formal email to my bank asking for the receipt; friendly tone."

Honest limits

  • Like all AI, it can make mistakes: for important decisions, double-check the information or ask it to verify with sources.
  • With very long documents, it works better in parts: ask for the big picture first and then the detail.
  • Your conversation is saved in your workspace so you can come back to it, and you can delete it whenever you want. It is never used for training.
