Notifications

So you do not have to watch: Echidna tells you when something finishes.

What it is

A notification is a browser alert that appears while you use Echidna, for example when a scheduled task finishes. It is the way to find out without checking by hand.

Turn them on

  1. Go to Settings and look for the Notifications section.
  2. Flip the switch.
  3. The browser will ask for permission to show notifications: accept. If you denied it before, you can allow it again from the browser's own settings for this site.

What they tell you

  • The end of a scheduled task, with the result waiting in its thread.
  • Task failures, with an explanation in plain language.
  • The notification counter appears in the tab title until you read them.

Honest limits

  • Notifications work with the Echidna tab open. We do not send emails or phone messages for now.
  • A task's result is saved anyway even if you do not see the notification: when you come back, you find it in the thread with its date.
  • They are useful notifications, not advertising: we do not use notifications for anything else.

How to turn them off

Flip the same switch in Settings, or block the site's notifications from your browser. You can turn them back on whenever you want.
